FAQs about Medicare
Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare with a private plan that often includes extra benefits like dental, vision, or prescription coverage. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare to help pay for deductibles, copays, and coinsurance.
Most people become eligible at age 65. You have a 7-month Initial Enrollment Period (3 months before, the month of, and 3 months after your 65th birthday). You may also qualify for Special Enrollment Periods if you’re leaving employer coverage or experiencing certain life events.
Costs vary based on the coverage you choose. Original Medicare has premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans have their own premiums and copays, while Medigap helps cover out-of-pocket costs. We’ll review your budget and find the most affordable option.
It depends on the plan. Medicare Advantage plans usually have provider networks, while Original Medicare and Medigap allow you to see any doctor that accepts Medicare. We’ll help you compare plans so you know exactly which doctors and hospitals are covered.
To get prescription benefits, you’ll need to enroll in a Part D plan or choose a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C) that includes drug coverage. Each plan has its own premium, copays, and formulary (list of covered drugs).
